Do you sometimes get so caught up in life’s doings, that you don’t even notice what is right next to you?
There could be the most beautiful expressive tree, kind words or beautiful sunrise but if, like many many people in this world, you are rushing and only thinking of where you are going, you will not see them.
You will not hear them. You will not read or absorb them. You will not breathe in their beauty.
There could be a beautiful new recipe someone has made, a new drink to try, a few seconds of eye contact and connection. But, if you are in your head, in your doing, your going, your “I must…”, “I should…” then they may as well have never existed in your life.
Is that what you want?
Do you want to have a life of that?
Or maybe, just maybe, you might like to look around sometimes.
To stop, to pause, to
notice the beauty that is already in your life.
Already around you.
Can you let yourself see it, feel it, hear it, receive it?
Can you allow yourself to experience joy, even for 1 moment?
I’m not talking about the fast-paced, need-more, when-I-get-there or get-that kind of apparent joy.
I mean, as I’m sure you’ve already experienced, that simple, pure, peaceful, content, in-the-moment joy. The content smile inside that comes almost unexpectedly.
That comes when you are not rushing, not doing and not achieving/pushing/forcing/must-work.
Yes, work and effort and focus can be amazingly useful tools for getting things done. For creating beautiful things that can help you, your family, community, even the world.
But maybe it’s those quiet moments that make a life.
Maybe that’s what you are actually looking for?
Just some thoughts.
See what you’d like to do with, or not do with them.
Take them into your heart for a moment, let them sit there.
Do they resonate, feel right for you?
Or is this just a game? Not really your life? Well not yet anyway. You’ll get round to that (peace, joy, fulfillment, appreciating the moment) another time when you’re not so….so…well, not so alive.
